Preliminary Results

World of Warcraft

Some people in the Eyebeam OpenLab are rather obsessive about their World of Warcraft characters. After capturing the character with OGLE and cleaning the geometry with Maya a little bit, we were able to render it into the real world with our Dimension BST 3D printer.

Google Earth

Between the terrains and buildings for selected US cities, Google Earth has a lot of 3D data that it renders using OpenGL. With OGLE, we were able to import chunks of this data into Maya and 3D print it.

SecondLife

In the video game SecondLife, players are able to create, model, and modify their own 3D stuff, including their avatars and, presumably, the dragon shown below. A test character with so-called 'saddlebags' was printed on the 3D printer. The dragon was imported into Google Earth (using the Maya2GoogleEarth plugin) to create a rather haunting scene.
